Sound
Submerged below the surface, the Aegean becomes a gently rocking cradle. In this thick water all sound seems dulled, all but one oddly sharp sound; the scraping of the pebbles and fine granules against one another with the passing of each wave.
all materials (assignments and images) are the property of this course and may not be copied or adapted without permission of the course participants and instructor of record. - thank you.
This course taught by Robert Mueller and Lauren Garber Lake at the Skopelos Foundation of the Arts will use the island of Skopelos and Greek culture as a starting point for artist’s books, drawings and prints.
We will emphasize sketchbook and idea development as well as introduce students to basic bookbinding techniques and collagraphic printmaking techniques. Students will be intimately immersed in island culture through visits with local artists, hiking, boat trips, visits to local points of interest, folk-dancing, cooking demonstrations, and more.
